During the 14th-17th centuries:

• people looked in a new way
• they were interested again in classical things and anincient Greco-Roman art and learning
• they developed an interest in the beauty around them
• they questioned unreasonable ideas and belife
• they had greater freedom
• there were new developments in art, science, literature and religion

    People's living in the Middle Ages were quite different from those in the Renaissance.

    In the Middle Ages, most of the Europeans thought about religion. They paid little attention to their life. They thought that nothing was more important than God. It seemed that they lived their lives just to please God.

    During the Renaissance, their thoughts changed. They lived their lives not just to please God, but also to please themselves. They were interested not only in relogion, but also in classcal learning and writing, which were mainly about human affairs. We called these people humanists, and their ideas humanism.
